Analyzing powers for. pi. sup + - sup 13 rvec C scattering at T sub. pi. =100 MeV

Measurements of the analyzing power for the {sup 13}{rvec C}({pi}{sup {plus minus}},{pi}{sup {plus minus}}) reaction at {ital T}{sub {pi}}=100 MeV have been made at TRIUMF using a polarized target consisting of 99% {sup 13}C enriched butanol. Data were obtained for the ground and 3.68 MeV excited states at angles from 110{degree} to 150{degree} in 10{degree} steps. The data are consistent with zero asymmetry throughout most of this angular range. Uncertainties are typically {plus minus}15%, which is sufficient to discriminate among some, but not all, of the currently available theoretical predictions.
