The Study of Penicillin Tolerance in Streptococcus pyogenes

1997
Tolerance is one of various bacterial mechanisms for escaping the killing action of the antibiotics6. Penicillin tolerance has been involved in the treatment failures in patients with streptococcal pharyngitis1, 3, 7, 8, 10. The aim of our study was to explore the penicillin tolerance for Streptococcus pyogenes strains isolated from patients hospitalized in “Sf. Maria” Pediatric Hospital and to correlate in vitro data with treatment efficiency in the patients.
