Ductility enhancement of a heat-treatable magnesium alloy

2006
A high strength magnesium alloy is subjected to equal channel angular extrusion imparting a strong shear texture. After annealing, the ductility e f  ∼ 26% is improved by a factor of two in comparison to conventional processing methods. The enhancement is discussed in terms of grain size, texture, aging and failure stress.
