Statistical Computing in Environmental Science

2013
Environmental modeling can be distinguished into modeling the environment or some of its compartments, predicting environmental parameters, and storing and monitoring data on the quality of the environment. Computational aspects of environmental science concern data storage, modeling of processes, modeling of effects, graphical display of spatial data and scenario analysis. Computers and computing enter environmental sciences actively and outside research when decision making has to be supported. This requires reliable spatial data, reliable models and interactive tools for visualizing scenarios.
