A New Z-Source Multilevel Inverter for Induction Motor Drives

2015
In this a new multilevel inverter based Z-source inverter fed induction motor drive is proposed. Multilevel Inverters are one of the promising techniques used in many industrial drive applications. When these inverters are used for industrial drive directly, the THD contents in output voltage of inverters is very significant index as the performance of drive depends very much on the quality of voltage applied to drive. A new adjustable-speed drives (ASD) system based on the high-performance Z-source inverter. It can overcome limitations of conventional Z-source inverter system. The proposed system can operate at wide range load with small inductor .It eliminates the possibility of the DC-link voltage; simplify the Z-source network inductor and controller design. The output voltage of the proposed converter can be increased by the modulation index M and shoot through state and decrease the ripple current by changing the magnitude and distribution of the harmonics. The proposed concept is implemented with MATLAB/SIMULINK software and the results are observed.
