Influence of L-Methionine on the Risk of Struvite and Brushite Stone Formation

1994
Physiological urine acidification with L-methionine (L-M) is a successful accompanying therapy in urinary tract infection and phosphate stone formation. In cases of acute infection, residual stones or methaphylaxis it is of great importance to maintain sufficient acidification throughout 24 h. The aim of the present study was to investigate pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of L-M and the beneficial effect of urine acidification on the risk of struvite and brushite stone formation.
