Crosslinked Isocyanate-free Poly(Hydroxy Urethane)s – Poly(butyl methacrylate) Hybrid Latexes

Abstract Waterborne isocyanate-free grafted poly(hydroxy urethane)-poly(butyl methacrylate) hybrid dispersions were synthesized by miniemulsion polymerization. Grafting was induced by including methacrylate functionalities in the poly(hydroxy urethane) and was controlled by the degree of functionalization. It is shown that grafting enabled a fine tuning of the mechanical properties of the PHU containing hybrids.
