Comparison Between Discrete Wavelet Transform and Maximal Overlap Discrete Wavelet Transform as an Analysis tool for H.264/AVC Video

The aim of this paper is to study discrete wavelet transform and maximal overlap wavelet transform as analysis tools for H.264/AVC video data. This study highlights which of these wavelet transforms retains the complex autocorrelation properties of H.264 video more accurately. This knowledge allows for construction of better video models with more exact video autocorrelation resemblance. The two transform types are applied to H.264 video traces and the recovered data are compared. The results of this research indicated that maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform is superior to discrete wavelet transform.
