The invention discloses a method of vegetation restoration of a red soil eroded degraded site, which comprises: firstly screening plant varieties, including comprehensive analysis on restoration vegetation species and planting modes of different red soil eroded sites in south China and screening red soil restoration species of different granite red soil eroded sites, secondly constructing planting modes, including a water conservation grass planting mode which is a mixed mode of arbor shrub grasses in the extremely highly red soil eroded site, a near-nature reforming mode of runtish pine trees in the highly red soil eroded site, and a grass mulching mode of economic forest in the slightly red soil eroded site, and thirdly monitoring and estimating growth condition and water-soil conservation of constructed vegetational communities. The method is feasible and simple in operation, improves the eroded degraded red soil, reduces water and soil loss, enhances the water conservation function, improves the suitability of the red soil to plant growth, highly efficiently restores vegetation in the degraded red soil area, and promotes quick restoration of the vegetation.
