Effects of biological pretreatment on pyrolysis behaviors of corn stalk by TG-FTIR technique

2013
Abstract. After fermented by methanogen for 5, 15 and 25d respectively, pyrolysis behaviors of corn stalk was studied by thermogravimetric analyzer coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (TG-FTIR) technique under nitrogen atmosphere. The results revealed remarkable effects of biological pretreatment on the pyrolysis behaviors of corn stalk. Only one main stage was observed of pretreated CS, however, it was four stages of untreated CS. The pyrolysis behaviors of CS pretreated for different times were almost same. The results from the FTIR spectra at 330°C indicated that gaseous products from untreated and pretreated CS were same, but the amounts from pretreated CS were bigger than that of untreated CS. The changes of the chemical structure and components of CS before and after biological pretreatment could the main reasons of the differences of pyrolysis behaviors of CS.
