Comparison in Physical and Mechanical Properties between Doped and Non-Doped Y-TZP Electrolyte for HT-SOFC

2019
Abstract In this paper, physical and mechanical properties of Y 2 O 3 -stabilized tetragonal polycrystalline zirconia (Y-TZP) evaluated after prepared as electrolyte worked at high temperature solid oxide fuel cell (HT-SOFC). The preparation process included manufacture two types of electrolyte dope-Yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia (B 2 O 3 -Y-TZP) and non-doped (Y-TZP) which done with the cold press method then the sintering at 1893⁰K. Then the physical property included bulk density of sintered two types of electrolyte measured according to ASTM (C373-17). Phases and crystallite size of all sintered electrolyte determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphology of sintered electrolyte obtained via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The mechanical properties estimated for all two types of sintered electrolyte with nanoindentation instrument.
