About the Microstructure of Luminescent Centers in SiOx and ZnS Films Doped with Tb and Mn Fluorides

1989
Rare earth and manganese ions are generally used for the doping of electroluminescent (EL) films such as ZnS, ZnSe, CdF2 and SiOx. These ions are introduced commonly in the form of fluorides. However, the partial dissociation of fluorides as well as exchange reactions between the fluorides and basic materials take place during the film preparation. Therefore, besides molecular centers [1], centers with different crystal field symmetry around activator ions are formed. It is essential to establish the model of these luminescent centers because different centers may be unlike in EL characteristics.
