Conservation of Lepton Charge in Beta Decay

1973
Recent data on the conservation of lepton charge in beta decay processes are reviewed. Experimental efforts to find neutrinoless double beta decay and theoretical estimates of the nuclear matrix elements for this process are discussed. The search for inverse beta processes which are forbidden by the law of lepton conservation is described. An estimate is given for the upper limit of a possible lepton nonconservation parameter which can be obtained from various experiments.
