Roll your own cigarettes in Ireland: key patterns and trends.

The findings of new research provide an insight into RYO (Roll your own) smoking consumption patterns in Ireland. It provides the first detailed examination of RYO consumption from the HSE’s National Tobacco Control Office monthly survey of smoking prevalence. This research reveals a significant increase from 3.5% in 2003 to 24.6% in 2014 - in the number of people smoking Roll Your Own tobacco in Ireland. One in four smokers now use Roll Your Own. Report authors Dr David Evans, Paul Hickey and Dr Anne O’Farrell also highlight the targeted marketing of Roll Your Own products and the tax differential between Roll Your Own tobacco and manufactured cigarettes.
