Lighting control system using solar energy to provide 24-hour lighting of the facility

2020
Facing the constantly rising energy costs, the energy management of a facility is becoming an increasingly important factor in its construction and use. The daylight is becoming an important factor determining the design, construction and use of the facilities. The use of the solar energy, daylight, makes it possible to significantly reduce electricity consumption in lighting installations. The energy accumulated during the day and stored in energy stores can be used at night or during periods when there is not enough sunlight. Described in the article lighting control system of the facility, uses the KNX standard. In spaces with access to daylight, it supervises the lighting systems in way that allows to maximise the daylight contribution to illuminate the rooms. In addition, it controls the photovoltaic system, which transfers the stored energy to be used for illumination, and stores surplus production in energy storage, which enables it to be used, for example during the night. A facility that has such a lighting control system can provide all the energy needed for lighting from solar radiation.
