Study on mercury-substituting inhibitors in zinc electrode for high power battery

2009
Ternary alloy and PbO used in high power battery in actual working condition were studied by testing the volume of evolved hydrogen and electrical performance.Self-corrosion potential and overpotential of hydrogen evolution were also studied by potentiodynamic polarization curve method. The results show that the two mercury-substituting inhibitors can effectively reduce the hydrogen evolution from zinc electrode, and the ternary alloy is better than HgO in decreasing hydrogen evolution.
