Pion double charge exchange at 50 MeV on /sup 14/C

1984
The first measurement of pion double charge exchange at low energy is reported. The reaction $^{14}\mathrm{C}({\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+},{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})^{14}\mathrm{O}$ was measured at an incident pion energy of 50 MeV. Differential cross sections of the double analog transition are given in the angular range 50\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}-120\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. Strong nonanalog transitions were also observed.
