Disclosed is a display panel device having a structure whereby a higher reliability than conventional display panel devices is easily attainable, and which is provided with: a partition wall (105) that has opening sections formed by inclined side walls; pixel electrodes (104) that are first electrode layers formed on the opening sections of the partition wall (105); hole injection layers (113) and organic EL layers (106) that are organic functional layers formed above the aforementioned first electrode layers; and a common electrode (107) that is a second electrode layer formed on the aforementioned organic functional layers. The aforementioned first electrode layers have recess sections opened upwards, at the fringe sections near the end sections in contact with the side walls of the aforementioned partition wall.
