INTEGRATED ITS IN THE CITY OF ROME

2000
The paper describes the integrated ITS system deployed in Rome by the end of 1999, as a strategic tool to support the mobility policy of the Administration. The relevant functions and characteristics of each subsystem are illustrated, with special focus on the automatic access control system (ACS) constituting a quite unique realisation in urban context. The set up of multimedia (web, call centre, GSM (global system of mobile communication)) traffic information services is also pointed out, together with a first assessment of the expected benefits. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
