Light-induced effects in amorphous silicon films and solar cells

1982
Reversible light-induced changes have been observed in the infrared absorption spectra of amorphous silicon films deliberately contaminated during growth by adding either water vapor or air to the silane discharge. These contaminants also reduce the performance of amorphous silicon solar cells and can contribute to a reversible degradation of these cells upon prolonged exposure to illumination.
