The invention relates to the field of image processing, and the method, the apparatus and the display device are invented to increase contrast of a current display image. The method comprises: receiving the current display image, obtaining brightness information and saturation information of the current display image, obtaining brightness adjustment values of three-primary-color light sources matched with the current display image according to the brightness information and the saturation information, and further adjusting the brightness of the three-primary-color light sources according to the brightness adjustment values of the three-primary-color light sources. The method, the apparatus and the display device are mainly used in various display apparatuses.
