Teleradiology: Extravagance or Necessity?

This paper reviews current studies on the utility of teleradiology in clinical medicine and discusses the issues related to cost-effectiveness of this technology. The importance of high performance, low cost digital networking as the fundamental technologic roadblock in the implementation of teleradiology is emphasized.
