Tunneling Studies of Uniaxially Stressed (001) Si Inversion Layers

Using electron tunneling in metal-SiO2-(001)Si junctions, we have measured the influence of uniaxial mechanical stress in the [110] and [100] directions on the subband structure in electron inversion layers.
