DVD-storage technology for PACS: report on 2 years of experience

Abstract The AZ-VUB began in 1988 with PACS. Archiving and storing progressed from dedicated media with their proprietary hardware, without any standard towards our current choice to use common standard equipment, where CD-R and DVD-R fulfilled our actual needs. This choice provides us fast random accessible data, a guaranteed readability over decades, at a reasonable price.
