Anatomy of the root and stem nodules of Dacrydium fonckii (Phil.) Florin (Podocarpaceae)

Morphological and anatomical descriptions are given of the nodules present in the roots and stems of Dacrydium fonckii. Nodule structure is similar to that previously recorded for other Podocarpus-type root nodules; the main difference being the absence of a nodular stele in D. fonckii. The widely accepted hypothesis that Podocarpus nodules are modified lateral roots is discussed.
