Critical Path Analysis for Myocardial Infarction Patient

2019
In Myocardial Infarction (MI) patients care process, the time from the onset of the symptom to the time they receive the reperfusion strategy to prevent the myocardium loss is important. An observational study was conducted to determine the variation in the process of care and to identify the critical path from the variations. The study conducted in two general hospitals in Malaysia, between Septembers to December 2016. The sample included 160 patients who come to the emergency department with a symptom of chest pain and finally undergo the Fibrinolytics therapy as a method of reperfusion strategy. The finding of this critical path analysis shows the ECG reading as the critical task. As a conclusion, knowing the critical task that hinder the pace of MI patient perfused could facilitate the clinician work by removing any unwarranted variations that arise in the critical path and prevent delay in the total time.
