Role of Computational Biology in Sustainable Development of Agriculture

Integrated approaches of information technology with life science play a significant role in agriculture and allied fields. With the revolution in data interpretation and interference using various bioinformatics software enriches the research of the science domain. Recently, several sequencing projects of various microorganisms and crop species providing genomic information to the researchers. Tools of bioinformatics are playing a significant role in crop improvement, identification of novel renewable energy sources, nutritional quality enhancement, waste clean-up, biotic and abiotic resistance cultivar development. In the coming decades, the bioinformatics field can play a pivotal role in elucidating the experimentation information and discovery of various unraveled functions of genes and pathways in plants. Being an interface among present biology and informatics it includes finding, improvement, and execution of computational algorithms and software tools that make possible an understanding of the biological processes with the goal to provide mainly agriculture and allied sectors with numerous spinoffs.
