Experimental Study on the Relation Between Pressure Drop and Seepage Velocity in Carbonized Micro-wood Fiber DPF

2010
Diesel powered vehicles produce a considerable amount of particulate laden exhaust gases, which is thought to be the main source of air pollution and endanger human health. The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is one of the leading technologies for reducing diesel PM(particulate material). In this paper, utilizing carbonized micro wood fiber (CMWF) as filter material of DPF is presented, meanwhile, a detachable DPF and CMWF DPF test device for exhaust resistance characteristics is developed. As shown by the test, the pressure drop of the DPF specimens all can meet the basic demand of DPF and when the DPF is designed, the appropriate filter pore size should be selected carefully and the filter media with larger pore diameter and longer axial length should be considered preferentially.
