The students’ cognitive engagement in online mathematics learning in the pandemic Covid-19 era

Students' cognitive engagement plays an essential role in the learning process In classroom learning, students can engage directly, face to face, with the other students and their teacher;but in the pandemic COVID-19 era, the engagement is not directly, not face to face, because their interactions are online In this study, we discuss the students' cognitive engagement in their learning that is carried out on the online course using the Whatsapp application and their level of cognitive engagement based on Casimiro's level There are 36 students involved in the course The student's cognitive engagement was observed through their conversations in the Whatsapp application that has been recorded The results show that students can interact with each other and the teacher;some students do communication intensively between students and teachers It is found that some students are not included in Casimiro's level © 2021 Author(s)
