An Adaptive Frame Dynamic Programming Algorithm

2010
In the long range early-warning radar applications, the fixed-scan frames dynamic program-ming algorithm will increase the time that is needed to take a decision in high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),while in moderate SNR it could not improve the detection performance by adding the scan frames.Focusing on this problem, this paper concerns an adaptive frame dynamic programming algorithm that adopts a double-threshold detector. For signals of different SNR,it can choose the scan frames adaptively to obtain a higher detection probability.Numerical results have shown that, for high SNR signals, this algorithm can reduce the time that is needed to take a decision while not losing its detection performance;for moderate or smaller SNR signals,it can obtain a better detection performance by adding the scan frames adaptively.Besides, the interplay between an important parameter and system performance is analyzed and suggestions are made on how to choose this parameter in practical.
