Research on key technologies of modular design based on SolidWorks

Modular design can quicken the development of productions and decrease the manufacturing cost and has completed the transformation from a kind of thinking to a method. SolidWorks is not only a three-dimension modeling software based on Windows, but also an excellent integrated production design and development flat. Some key technologies such as design flow, product data model, functional analysis, module dividing, module composition and evaluation are discussed. The system frame, developing tools and some key technologies to second-develop SolidWorks are analyzed. Furthermore, VC, COM, DLL and ADO are used to build the computer aided modular design system. A case named CAMDS proves that such a system can help designers to implement modular design better and has preferable benefit.
