A low-COST technique for the analysis of radial and axial segregation in a conical spouted bed

2020
Abstract A low-cost and non-intrusive methodology using a solidification-slicing approach was proposed in this work for the investigation of radial and axial segregation phenomenon in a spouted bed. The effects of diameter, density, and shape of the particles, as well as the initial particle loading, and the inlet air velocity on segregation, were qualitatively and quantitatively assessed. Suitable radial and axial segregation indexes were used to quantify the segregation degree. The proposed approach contributed to understanding the particle mixture dynamic on the entire bed material.
