Survey of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) incidences on fig in Aurangabad and Pune Districts

2019
A survey was undertaken to find out the frequency of occurrence and abundance of root-knot nematode associated with fig in Pune and Aurangabad districts of Maharashtra State. Total 138 soil and root samples were collected from 37 localities of fig orchards from Pune and Aurangabad districts. Out of them twelve localities were observed to be rich in the incidence of root-knot nematode, while seven localities were found to be free from root-knot nematode. In general, 200 to 520 J2/200 cm3 of soil with 22 to 85 root galls + egg masses/5 g roots with 100 per cent absolute frequency of occurrence and 205 per cent absolute density were recorded in Sonari locality of Pune district with PV = 20.50. However, lowest incidence of 0 to 80 J2/200 cm3 of soil with 0 to 4 root gall + egg masses/5 g roots with 60 per cent absolute frequency of occurrence and 37.50 per cent absolute density were recorded in Mhaismal locality of Aurangabad district with PV = 2.90.
