Commentaries Inter-American Court of Human Rights : Granier v. Venezuela (22 June 2015)

2021
The Granier case concerns the denial of the renewal of the broadcasting license to Radio Caracas Television (RCTV), a privately-owned TV station which is critical to the government. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (hereafter ‘the Court’ or ‘IACHR’) decided whether Venezuela’s refusal to renew the license violated the right to freedom of expression under Article 13(1) of the American Convention on Human Rights (hereafter ‘the American Convention’).
