Clinical effect of constant speed exercises on the rehabilitation of knee injuries
2013
OBJECTIVE The study was conducted to evaluate the curative effect of constant speed exercises on knee injuries in athletes, so to provide a reference for the rehabilitation of sport injuries. METHODS 26 athletes with unilateral knee injuries from exercises were selected as the research subjects of the observation group, and 32 healthy athletes were chosen as the control group. The injuried athletes were subjected to constant speed training and relaxation training on the flexion range and extensor muscle strength of the injuried knee, and were evaluated upon the completion of two training courses; no intervention was implemented on the control group. Before and after the training, knees on the injuried and uninjured sides of the observation group were compared with the peak torque(PT) of the flexor / extensor of the control group, and the knee injuries of the observation group were evaluated. RESULTS Before the training, PTs of the flexor / extensor at 60°, 120°, and 180°of the observation group were significantly different from those of the control group(P﹤0.01 in all cases); after two courses of training, no significant difference was observed in the flexor / extensor PTs between the injuried sides of the observation group and healthy knees of the control group(P﹥ 0.05). Before the training, 0%, 7.69%, 26.92%, and 65.38% of the athletes in the observation group were in excellent, good, fair, and poor knee conditions, respectively; however, after two courses of constant speed training, distribution of the conditions among the athletes shifted to 61.54%, 23.08%, 15.38%,and 0%, respectively. Difference in KSS distribution before and after the training was statistically significant(χ2= 8.34, P﹤0.01).
