Abstract 19377: Procedural Success Rates and Outcomes of PCI in the Very Elderly Patients (≥ 90 Years) With NSTE Acute Coronary Syndromes. Results of the Prospective ALKK-Registry

Background: There is a growing number of elderly patients admitted with acute coronary syndromes. However, there is a lack of data on the outcome of the very elderly patients with NSTE-ACS. Therefore we evaluated the treatment and clinical outcome in of patients > 90 years undergoing PCI for NSTE-ACS in real life Methods: We used the data of the ongoing prospective German ALKK-PCI registry and included patients with NSTE-ACS and PCI treated in 51 centers. Baseline variables, procedural features, antithrombotic therapies and in-hospital outcomes were centrally collected and analysed. Results: Between 2009 and 2013 a total of 40968 patients with NSTE-ACS and PCI were included. Of these 344 (0.8 %) were ≥ 90 years old. Baseline characteristics, procedural features and in-hospital outcomes are given in the table. Conclusion: In clinical practice very elderly patients with NSTE-ACS undergoing PCI represent a very high-risk subgroup. Despite a high procedural success rate the in-hospital mortality is high. Therefore patients ≥ 90 years with NSTE-ACS should be carefully selected for an invasive strategy and PCI.
