A process for the production of aqueous esterquat dispersions

1994
Aqueous esterquat dispersions with improved wetting power are obtained by quaternising fatty acid alkanol amine esters in the presence of dispersant mixtures containing (a) alcohol polyethylene glycol ether of the formula (I) R O(CH2CH2O)nH in which R is a linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl radical with 6 to 22 carbon atoms and n is a number from 1 to 10, and (b) fatty acid amidoalkylene amines of the formula (II) R CO-NH(Z)NR R in which R CO is an acyl radical with 2 to 18 carbon atoms and 0 and/or 1 to 3 double bonds and Z is a linear or branched alkylene group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R and R are mutually independently hydrogen or alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and then adding them to water.
