On the reaction of C-S-H(di, poly) with alkali hydroxides
1989
Abstract The incorporation of alkali hydroxides (MOH), especially KOH, within a well defined C-S-H phase (C-S-H(di, poly)) has been investigated. The results have shown the amount of bound MOH to be dependent on MOH concentration, composition of the C-S-H phase, ionic radius of the alkali, additional incorporated cations like Al 3+ , and temperature of formation of the C-S-H phase. From the results the conclusion is drawn that MOH is incorporated within the interlayer of the C-S-H phase mostly by neutralizing SiOH-proups.
