Expression of Cyr61,WISP3 mRNA and protein in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue and univariate survival analysis

2009
Aim:To detect Cyr61,WISP3 expression in human esophageal carcinomas tissue. Methods:Cyr61,WISP3 expression in one hundred and eight six esophageal cancer tissues and their matched normal esophageal tissues was detected by using real-time PCR assay and immunohistochemistry staining. Univariate survival analysis was used.Results:Up-regulation of Cyr61,WISP3 was found in esophageal cancer comparing to the matched normal esophageal tissues(P0.01). The univariate analysis showed that Cyr61,WISP3 mRNA expression levels in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were related with metastasis, infiltrating extent, tumor size, and tumor stage(P0.01). Cyr61,WISP3 protein expression levels were related with smoking, metastasis, family history, infiltrating extent, and tumor stage(P0.05). The univariate survival analysis by Kaplan-Meier method showed that the mRNA and protein expression of Cyr61 and WISP3,gender,smoke,metastasis,family history, infiltrate depth, tumor size, tumor stage were related with survival(P0.05).Conclusion:Cyr61,WISP3 may play a role in the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and their proteins might serve as valuable targets for early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention.
