The NRILP (Oikeuspoliittinen tutkimuslaitos) is a research institute operating in connection with the Finnish Ministry of Justice. The institute practices independent research on legal policy and crime; monitors and analyses policy and crime trends; promotes national and international cooperation in the research of its field; and takes part in researcher training in cooperation with universities. The Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology at Leiden University Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands (founded in 1575) and is one of Europe’s foremost research universities. The Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology conducts education and research in the field of criminal law and criminology. One of its main research areas is the study of national and international patterns of homicide. This research takes place within the context of the research programme Criminal Justice: Legitimacy, Accountability, and Effectivity.
