MANIPULATING THE CONDUCTION PROCESS OF A MOLECULAR RESONANT TUNNELING DIODE

2006
In this work we propose two methods to manipulate the conduction process in a molecular resonant tunneling diode. In the first proposal we make use of the fact that by twisting the molecule along the long axis, we can generate a nonlinear coupling between the conduction electrons and the phonons. In the second proposal, we allow a light of appropriate frequency to pump the electrons from the ground state to the first excited state. This mechanism generates an additional current across the molecular resonant tunneling diode.
