Two-stage lube stock refining from sulfides

An efficient method for cleaning hydrocarbon lube oil fractions of sulfides by their oxidation with hydrogen peroxide to sulfonic acids was developed. The sulfonic acids are removed from distillates by extraction with N-methylpyrrolidone.
