Analysis on The FCC-FDTD Method of Electromagnetic Scattering Characteristics for Metal Ball Coated with Plasma

In this article, the backward monostatic radar cross section (RCS) of magnetized plasma coated with three dimensional metal sphere and single metal sphere model is calculated by using face centered cubic (FCC) grid technology. The FCC-FDTD iterative formulas for anisotropic plasma medium are derived, and the results are compared with those of JE convolution (JEC) FDTD method. Research shows that FCC grid adopts a spatial distribution structure similar to crystal structure, it has higher accuracy and better stability than other FDTD methods in dealing with dispersion error. This method also provides a new way to reduce the dispersion error caused by large gradient and inhomogeneous medium.
