NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF STEEL CATENARY RISER

The design of a steel catenary riser (SCR) is a challenging problem. The current design practice finds to overestimate forces on the riser due to limitations inherent to the simple soil usually employed. The principal objective of this investigation is to develop a model to simulate the behavior of a SCR riser. A 2D nonlinear beam element was implemented to represent the SCR riser.
