Construction of 1D-MoS2 nanorods/LiNb3O8 heterostructure for enhanced hydrogen evolution

2020
Abstract 1D-MoS2 nanorods/LiNb3O8 (NR/LNO) heterostructure was constructed by directly growing MoS2 nanorods co-catalysts at the junction site of LNO particles for the photocatalytic H2 production. The optimal loading amount of MoS2 nanorods was 1 wt%, where it exhibited three times faster H2 production rate than that of pure LNO, even better than that of heterostructure with 2D MoS2 nanosheets co-catalyst. The enhanced photocatalytic performance of NR/LNO heterostructure is attributed to an intimate junction between LNO and MoS2 nanorods that could facilitate the electron separation and transfer. This finding opens a new avenue for the photocatalytic application of 1D MoS2 co-catalyst in heterostructures.
