Additional Page for Proper Referencing

2015
IEEE ELECTRON DEVICE LETTERS (EDL) requires authors to be diligent in citing all pre-publications relevant to the subject of the paper they submit for evaluation. Editors have been instructed to pre-screen submissions which fail to reference pre-published work, including conference papers with overlapping content, and reviewers are asked to pay special attention to this aspect of the manuscript. Such a strong emphasis on proper citation of the literature, explained in several past EDL editorials [1] , [2] , may come in conflict with the strict length restriction of the letter format. Therefore, we are exempting the reference section of an EDL paper from space constraints, thereby, allowing references to spill over to one page beyond the current page limit. This additional space is reserved exclusively for the reference section. Our hope is that this change shall facilitate the authors to do a thorough and professional job of citations. We expect authors to reciprocate by providing a more complete set of references with a full author list, title, page numbers, and a digital object identifier (doi), where available.
