Selecting the operating point in resource tests of thermionic converters

1975
It is shown that in tests of thermionic elements and assemblies having a high power density, in which the problem is to obtain the maximum values of power while restricting T/sub e max/ (maximum emitter temperature), the optimal operating point will not correspond to the points on the q = const characteristics having the maximum power. The choice of the required operating point may be made from a set of q = const and T/sub e max/ = const volt-ampere characteristics which has been calculated for the tested elements or assemblies.
