Optimal conditions efficiency for pulse increasing the breakdown strength of vacuum insulation

2004
High-voltage conditioning efficiency of vacuum gap electrodes at the electric field macrointensity, 1.5.10 7 ⩽E 0 1.3 10V/m , by pulses with duration equal to the breakdown delay time is estimated. It's shown that pulse regimes efficiency for increasing the vacuum insulation breakdown strength rises with duration decrease at appropriate intensity increase on cathode and can essential exceed dc conditioning efficiency. Limiting results correspond to the conditioning with the subnanosecond pulses at the macrointensity, E 0 ˜10 10 V/m, created in micron gaps.
