Third‐Order Nonlinear Optical Study on Coumarin Derivative at 1064 nm Wavelength Excitation using Z‐Scan Technique

2011
We have prepared the conjugated organic material named coumarin derivative (3‐{(2E)‐3‐[4‐(dimethylamino)phenyl]prop‐2‐enoyl}‐2H‐chromen‐2‐one) in dimethyl formamide (DMF), solution and investigated their nonlinear optical transmission by the open‐aperture and closed aperture z‐scan technique, using nanosecond laser pulses, at the excitation wavelength of 1064 nm. The nonlinear absorption coefficient, nonlinear refractive index, and third‐order nonlinear susceptibility of the compounds are measured.
