Niveles de streptococos mutans lactobacilos y capacidad Buffer en la saliva de los niños que reciben quimioterapia en el Hospital Oncológico de la ciudad de Loja durante el periodo marzo-julio del 2016.

2016
The purpose of the present research project was to determine the levels of mutans streptococci, lactobacilli and buffering capacity of saliva of the children undergoing chemotherapy in the Cancer Hospital “SOLCA” in Loja City. The sample consisted into this process was of 23 patients aged between 3 to 11 years; and all of them were diagnosed with cancer. Collecting saliva was made with the help of jars sampling 2ml also it proceeded to place in the means of transport Stuart, then transported to the microbiology laboratory where the samples were processed to find microbial activity and the buffer capacity of the saliva. In the research project which I have been working; the following results were obtained; Streptococcus mutans present 26% at high risk, 43% lactobacilli found in a high risk and the buffer capacity present an alkaline and neutral level. It is concluded that there is a moderate variation in the oral microbial activity, and any alteration in the buffer capacity in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at the Oncological Hospital “SOLCA”. It is recommended to work more specialties in which other types of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy with different doses, longer treatment, classified by age and sex (boys / girls and adults) is evaluated. Keywords: Streptococcus mutans, lactobacilli, Capacity Buffer, Chemotherapy.
